To be honest, I'd not realised it until it was in an episode of 'The Simpsons', and then I heard it EVERYWHERE! Of course, there's also the American pronunciation of 'Premiere' and 'Notre Dame' - but in fairness, the English either adopt or mangle any other language they come across too. Hehe - yup, I’ve never met an American in real life who mispronounced nuclear - but there seem to be a lot on TV.
