So, I’d built a demo with a short-term licence key - one that expired at the end of December. This was unfortunate as the demo got moved to January. Anyway, what happened when the licence expired? Um, sudden workflow death. The workflow host ceased functioning - so my workflows which were in progress wouldn’t do anything, and even the worklists stopped functioning.
Hmm. Seems a bit brutal to me - I’d expected that the in progress workflows might be possible to continue, albeit that I wouldn’t expect to be able to start new processes. I suppose maybe it makes sense, ‘cos otherwise people would be able to still be using ‘in progress’ workflows for years afterwards, but it was a bit of a shock.
On the other hand, updating the licence wasn’t too hard - provided you can find the URL
Hi Andy,
I’m sorry to hear that this put you in a bit of a spot or that it was difficult to renew the license. Feel free to e-mail me if you have more thoughts or ideas on how we can improve the experience for you.
Josh - K2
Hey Josh,
Not at all, no need for apologies - the renewal was really straight forward, and dealt with really quickly. I just struggled to fine the right page to request it. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I do fine the K2 website a bit hard to navigate sometimes.
I appreciate the feedback on the web site. I don’t think it is just you.
We are working to do a few things with k2.com in the coming months that include a redesign of the content pages, improved navigation, deeper integration with the partner portal, and a redesign of our search engine. Keep checking the site and keep us honest. If it doesn’t work, we want to know.
I’m not sure if you have had the opportunity to visit, but we also have a community site at http://www.k2underground.com. We’re north of 3,000 registered users and we’re working hard to make sure it is a great source for information and a place to get questions answered.
Yeah, I’m registered on the K2Underground. It’s pretty useful - it’s nice that it seems that the are lots of K2 guys on there to help a noob like me. And actually, I find it a much easier site to use (though yes, not as beautiful)
